Happy New Year!

my lovely bandees. saiyidah here. in case the other juniors don't know who i am. i am theeeeee trombone senior (ex snr/alumni/the girl who was the station master at the pond during bandcamp games) haha.

well. 2008 has come to an end. im sure many stuffs took place this year and many stuffs will take place next year.

you guys came a long way.

are you guys gonna fall back to square 1? are you guys gonna keep doing that? attendance wise, ultimately. are you guys gonna recruit maaaaany manny juniors? are you guys gonna do well for SYF? are you guys gonna make the school proud? are you guys gonna have a good CNY/Speech Day performance? are you guys gonna make things hard for Ms Tan and the instructors, Mr Pan and Mr Ong? are you guys gonna stick as a band no matter what?

wow. there's so many things to look out for. well. i really hope things go well in 2009. a crucial year for you guys. you know, the last day of band camp. when you guys did your first attempt at Overture No.1 outside the library? it sent chills down my back. it was so beautiful, of course. lotsa parts were missing.

everytime i see you guys enjoying, laughing, teasing one another during band practice... i miss my band days. up till now. whenever i come back for band. then me and ama and fiiz and fian would go,

"ehh remember you did this during band camp in 2006?" "omgggg this was like..2007!!" "haha the KL hotel....room service!"

well. idk what else to say. let nature takes its course. see how 2009 works. if it isn't workin well.. take action.

YSSB..SOAR somethingsomething. i saw it on the board. aaha!

YSSB, YOU GUYS ARE MY PEANUTS TO MY BUTTER.

MY COTTON TO MY FLOSS

MY BELLY TO MY BUTTON

AND MY SLIDE TO MY OIL

i can keep coming up with these nonsense. T_T
PS: lol. colorful post niaaa!
PS: because your alumnis... do crazy things.
PS: WILL UPLOAD PICS...ONCE IM FREE! :D
in just a few hours time,
we're gonna leave 2008 and open a new chapter in 2009.
all the great times that we had as a band will
always be cherished .

i wish that YSSB will always strive for the best
and that we will work extremely hard to achieve what we want .
Have a Happy New Year !
May All Your Wishes Come True :D
I ♥ YSSB !!
wooohoo ~

hellooo! well. since i visited the band just now, i'll just say what i want to say, okay? hmm.

so yadayadayada me, sufian and hafiiz visited yssb bcus hafiiz wanted to pass the $$ for the tikets to mstan. so when we were outside the music room. we were like, "WOAH! SILVERCREST! WOAH. THATS YSSB PLAYING LIKE, WOAH!" it was rili rili good from outside! we 3 were kinda, shocked. great job, kiddos.

then we waited inside the store room and listened to more of silvercrest. and, it was played really nicely! haha.

in the winter was okaaay. haha. its rili nice. there is still, room for improvement of course. ahahah. like mrpan said. the band is, not well balanced. i was kinda shocked too when i saw the size of the competition band. er i dont know about the sec1s tho.

well. whatever it is. just give it your best! plus. sec2s... DONT GO FOR YOU CAMP. ITS OKAY. YOU STILL HAVE OBS TO GO, if you're selected, that is. HAHA. well. just do whatever that you think is right la, okay.

well. we alumnis/exseniors/seniors would be hoping for good news on July 12th. :D only 5 more pracs left. make the best out of it.

haha. i'll prolly see you guys tmr for sectionals or something... haha i have no idea. well. hope the security guards let me in tmr! haaha. okay, goodnight music people.

For those whom dislike Yishun Secondary Band.

Oh hello little juniors, been long since any of us ex-seniors. Apologies. :/

I was just gonna blog my own blog when I saw the Yishun Secondary School Symphonic Band blog on the very top. So I decided to click & see what's going on.

To my surprise, I saw some nasty or rather, not nice comments on the tagboard. Tsk. Kids nowdays.

***

If you people, whoever you may be, dislike YSSB then why are you here in the first place? It's worst if you're a band member & you hate band. Aren't you just contradicting yourself? Or you don't have brains to differentiate what's good & bad, what's love & hate?

So what if the band isn't some gold award holder. If you can make it become a gold band, wouldn't it be better? If you think that the band practices are boring, can you make it interesting? If you think that mastering an instrument is chicken feet, can you kindly show me that you can play a grade 3 piece with just 10 practices? Can you?

Yeah, you may think what's this crazy girl speaking here for? I'm telling you, whatever you may think this band is, you may label it as a lousy band, a sucky band, I don't care. It's the people that matters. I once had great time inside band, as a band member. So what each year we came back empty handed? We manage to cling onto a Sliver & Bronze for SYF. It's improvements that matters, not that stupid piece of metal. If you don't love your band members, you will never have good teamwork. Band isn't about whose gonna be the star, whose gonna be the main lead, NO. It's about teamwork. (I know you people are gonna say it's bullshit or whatever. Anyway, I don't bother even if you're like gonna hate me or curse me. Do it for all I care. It's not like your curse is gonna work on me. Becareful that it backfires.)

Whatever the case is, seniors & juniors should respect each other. That's the way to be in a band. You don't like the idea of being in the band? Or should I say you don't like being in YSSB? Bye. (:

***

More french horn juniors please! (:

***

All the best, YSSB! (: & for Nicola's batch, I miss you people!

hello band .
yesterday had sec 1 band practice .

clarinets - 2 players .
flutes - 2 players .
saxophone - 2 players .
french horn - 0 players.
trumpet - 2 players .
tuba - 1 player .
euphonium - 1 player .
trombone - 1 player .
percussion - 2 players .

yeah so thats all of the sec 1s that got into band .
its a small number .
but we'll try to fit in more.
so we first started with an interesting game .
and almost everybody played .
well , i could see that everyones happy and excited.
cause the game was very interesting ...
and so after that ,
mr pan came and the whole band sits in the concert plan .
then the seniors played chinese new year hits 1 .
for the juniors to hear , and know how band is actually like.

so after that .
we had to hand an instrument that they were assigned to ,
and teach them the basics of using the instrument .
then had sectionals.
the trainers had to teach the sec 1s to play twinkle twinkle little star .
well , it was hard but they were good.
and so , the whole band joined once again and played as a whole band .
and they sounded pretty good for a first time .

so , we congratulate them .
shawn gaved us 10 mins to pack up .
so seniors teach sec 1s how to keep the instrument .
and after that a slight debrief and everyone was dismissed.
it was a tiring day .

to the sec 1s.
you guys were great ! do keep up the good job ,
and i'll guarantee you will become a better player.
(:

and to ex seniors.
aww , its been long since i met you guys .
hope you guys are doing fine .
miss you all [:

Friday, January 25, 2008

congrats to all sec 4E and 5Ns who had passed your O levels with flying colours.
those who did not do well in your O's , good try okay (:

anyway .
just now had band as per normal .
it was the main band anyway .
today mr ong nor mr pan was coming,
so it was instructor shawn .

then we had our basics warm up .
low chromatic scales , Bb majors .
concert band clinic and
finally we practiced our chinese new year hits 1 and 2 .
its was okay .
kinda improving then the first few times we played.

Mr Ong and Mr Pan are actually good ,
they teach us to do more warm ups .
breathing exercises , and other techniques which are great .
so yeah ..

then band ended at around 5 plus .
haziqah , uniform master said a few words about new band tshirt .
and stuffs and ended .

so ,
im looking forward to the next practice .
(;
